Junior STARSkate Program
Skaters who have passed CanSkate Stage 6 enter Skate Canada’s STARSkate program at the Junior level.
Skills, Tests, Achievement, Recognition – this is what STARSkate Junior is all about!
STARSkate Junior is for skaters who have completed CanSkate Stage 6 and are ready to pursue figure skating. This program focuses on specific figure skating skills, dance, and free skating and includes group instruction by our Skate Canada-certified coaches.
At this level, Skate Canada recommends that skaters train a minimum of two days a week. Group stroking sessions and dance patterns are introduced at this level.
Pre-Junior sessions are fully coached and include off-ice training before skating on the ice.
The off-ice training program is a comprehensive dry-land program that incorporates fitness training, flexibility, off-ice jumps, conditioning, as well as a music, rhythm and dance appreciation program. It also further develops each skater's work ethic, goal setting, technique, teamwork and overall skating education. This program is essential for those skaters wishing to maximize themselves to their full potential. Skaters are to bring a yoga mat and water bottle to off-ice training.
ADULT STARSkate: Adults at this STARSkate level may be identified for this program. For an assessment, please email cpskatingclub@gmail.com, attention: Technical Director.
This program is offered at two different session times per week. Please check the exclusion dates. There will be no skating on exclusion days. Fees have been adjusted to account for exclusion dates.
