CanSkate Program
CanSkate is Skate Canada's flagship learn-to-skate program, recognized for developing fundamental skating skills across all ice sports.
Centennial Park Skating Club delivers a premium CanSkate Program that has been awarded the Skate Ontario CanSkate Excellence Exceeded status, which recognizes the delivery of CanSkate programs above the national delivery standard set by Skate Canada.
The CPSC CanSkate program is designed for children aged 5 to 14. It is a dynamic program that focuses on fun, participation, and basic skill development for beginners who have been on the ice before. This program is designed with a complete series of balance, control, and agility skills taught in six stages of learning that help skaters interested in participating in hockey, ringette, speed skating, and figure skating, as well as those who enjoy general recreational skating.
CanSkate uses a nationally tested and proven curriculum, with delivery methods that guarantee skaters' success in developing stronger basic skills and developing those skills faster. All CPSC CanSkate Coaches are certified each year with Skate Canada. C.S.A.-approved helmets (adding helmet cages is recommended for additional safety) and mittens are mandatory.
The program duration is 50 minutes with continuous certified coach group lesson time.
Parents interested in learning to skate may consider registering for the Adult CanSkate Program that runs concurrently with their child's CanSkate session.
This program is offered Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Please check the exclusion dates. There will be no skating on exclusion days. Fees have been adjusted to account for exclusion dates.
