Fully Supervised 50 minute learn-to-skate program for children 5 years old and up, Teens and Adults. When you sign up for CanSkate you will be in a program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. You will earn badges and other incentives as you learn fundamental skating skills. Lessons are given in a group format and led by an NCCP certified professional coach. Professional coaches are assisted by trained Program Assistants. Skaters progress at their own rate and coaches make sessions active using teaching aids, music and a wide variety of activities that create a fun environment and promote learning.

C.S.A approved helmets and mittens are mandatory to Stage 4. Helmets optional (at parents discretion in writing) from Stages 5 and up.

Program Description:

Skills, Tests, Achievement, Recognition – this is what STARSkate is all about! Skaters who have passed CanSkate Stage 6 enter the STARSkate program at the Junior level. STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. 

Skaters will participate in a 15 minute group stroking session and a 15 minute lesson on spins, jumps, field movements and dance. STARSkaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Tests through a nationally standardized testing system.

A private coached lesson is mandatory for skaters at this level. Proper skating attire is required. (i.e. skirt, dress, leggings).
