For children age 5 and up, CanSkate is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. This is for beginners of all ages, children or adults - including those wishing to improve their basic skills for figure skating, hockey, speed skating or even just skating for fun. This is taught by professional coaches, assisted by trained program assistants.
This program is designed with a complete series of balance, control and agility skills taught in six stages of learning that pertain to hockey, ringette, speed skating and figure skating along with general recreational skating. CanSkate uses nationally-tested and proven curriculum and delivery methods that guarantee skater success in developing stronger basic skills and developing them faster.
This is a learn-to-skate session for children aged 3 to 5 years old. Teaching aids, toys, games and upbeat music are all used to make learning fun and create a very positive environment.
C.S.A approved helmets (adding helmet cages is recommended for additional safety) and mittens are mandatory. Ratio is 8 skaters per Skate Canada Certified Coach along with mature Program Assistants.
